We’re starting early on this campaign – with a projected start date of June.
It’s one of our favourite clients. They are a well-established and growing industrial automation systems integrator who design, build and commission automation solutions for complex warehouse automation solutions. They take on technically challenging projects and see them through — and they've built a strong reputation. The team is tight-knit, commercially minded and values people who take ownership of their work.
The role
You'll take full ownership of project delivery across the complete lifecycle — from initiation and planning through design, procurement, construction monitoring and handover. Day to day, you'll be managing a mix of internal engineering teams, external contractors and client stakeholders — keeping everything moving, surfacing risks early and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You'll report to the Project Delivery Manager, leading a handful of projects concurrently.
Specifically, you will:
- Lead project delivery across all phases — initiation, planning, design, implementation and handover.
- Manage project programmes, budgets and risk registers, with consistent reporting to clients and internal leadership.
- Coordinate procurement activities — equipment, materials, subcontractors — including tender preparation and evaluation.
- Administer contracts, payment claims, variations and RFIs.
- Carry out on-site construction monitoring, safety compliance and quality checks.
- Manage design workshops and reviews, and working with engineering teams to maintain clear delivery pathways.
- Establish and maintaining project controls dashboards for regular PCG meetings and reviews.
About you
You know how industrial automation projects actually work — not just in theory, but on the ground. You've managed schedule and budget through the full project lifecycle, dealt with the inevitable surprises and found a way to bring things home. You're organised, clear-headed under pressure and good with people — whether that's a client, a contractor on site or a senior engineer pushing back on a programme. You ask the right questions, escalate when you need to.
You can also demonstrate:
- 7+ years of project management experience in leading the delivery Capex projects.
- Experience in projects involving conveyor systems, warehouse automation or similar mechanical/industrial automation infrastructure (baggage handling, conveyored factory automation or similar).
- Proven ability to manage project budgets and programmes end-to-end.
- Experience across design management, procurement, construction management and commissioning.
- Solid understanding of contract administration.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Useful but not essential:
- Estimating capability.
- Proficiency with MS Project or equivalent project scheduling software.
