Senior Project Manager – Airport / Baggage Handling Systems

About the Company

Liftpass has been retained by a specialist aviation and logistics consultancy with a global reputation in baggage handling and cargo systems. The firm is growing across Oceania and has an immediate opportunity for a highly experienced senior leader in a key role.

About the Role

Initially, you will take ownership and lead the successful delivery of a multi-million-dollar project at Auckland Airport through to 2030, as it moves from its design phase into delivery.  As the client's trusted subject matter expert and the main link between stakeholders, contractors and the consultancy, you will provide oversight and senior leadership for the project, managing client relationships and contractor performance though delivery to successful close-out

Key responsibilities in this ongoing role include:

- Leading client relationships as SME across project lifecycles.

- Managing project budgets, programmes and logistics, including RFI responses and punch list resolution.

- Reviewing design submittals, CAD drawings, specifications and technical reports for quality and compliance.

- Overseeing on-site inspections, testing, commissioning and system validation.

- Preparing project status reports and overseeing technical studies and cost estimates.

- Coordination of architects, engineers, contractors and trades to keep delivery on track.

- Mentoring Project Engineers and junior staff as the local team grows.

- Supporting business development across Oceania, including presenting to new and prospective clients.

About You

You have delivered airport systems / BHS projects and know what good looks like, from the drawings through to commissioning. 

You have excellent presentation skills, are articulate, commercially aware and fully self-sufficient in front of clients and project stakeholders. Comfortable being the expert in the room, you inspire confidence, encourage collaboration and work well as part of a team.

You also have:

- Proven BHS project delivery experience.

- A degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, or a related discipline.

- 5+ years in project management, ideally in airport, aviation or infrastructure environments.

- Strong technical competency and close attention to detail.

- Confidence in client liaison, including challenging the client as the SME.

- A collaborative approach and a track record of adding value to a team.

- Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical reporting.

- Flexibility to travel regularly within New Zealand and Australia.

- Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screening.

- Unrestricted working rights in New Zealand
