The Organisation

Specialising in designing, manufacturing and integrating advanced material handling and robotic automation systems for industries including food and beverage, logistics, and e-commerce, my client maintains a significant international footprint and delivers end-to-end solutions that combine bespoke hardware with intelligent software controls. With a significant team and strong leadership already in place, they are well-backed and ambitious. The planned growth of their Australian operations has the potential to significantly exceed that of their direct market competition.

Strategically and in collaboration with colleagues and management you will also lead the development and continuous improvement of electrical engineering standards, design tools and reusable architectures and the implementation of EPLAN as a design tool and integrate with existing and new design workflows.

Operational responsibilities include:

- electrical system design / critical design analysis for projects

- designing and amend drawings when required

- overseeing the work of subordinates concerning adherence to electrical design systems and processes

- providing oversight and performance management of subordinate engineers and design staff, ensuring work output is of high quality and aligned with project objectives

- managing the quality of work output by the electrical engineering and drafting department

- managing electrical engineering budgets, resourcing, and delivery schedules across multiple concurrent projects

- design query resolution

About you

In addition to your Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and accreditation (RPEQ or equivalent), you have strong vendor or consultancy experience in electrical systems design for large-scale industrial automation / MHS or conveyored systems.

You are either already responsible for leading staff or have a strong preference to do so.

In addition you can demonstrate:

- skill in managing electrical budgets, procurement and vendor engagement

- experience in managing the preparation of equipment/materials list for electrical installations

- ability to manage project timelines from inception to completion

- sound knowledge of requirements of AS/NZ3000 and AS4024.1 and experience signing off design activities

- proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN

- experience with centralised and decentralised motor control systems

- experience in hardwired systems, remote I/O, and industrial networks (e.g. Profinet, Profibus, ASi)

- experience integrating 3rd party OEM electrical systems into large-scale solutions

- problem solving, team building and decision-making skills

- familiarity with electrical installation methods and practices

- excellent time management and prioritisation skills

This role offers the opportunity join - and take a leadership role in - an ambitious team with a strong and collaborative culture as they enter a period of significant planned growth; with the further opportunity to gain exposure to a bespoke solutions environment involving leading-edge automation.
